The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Kondo

“Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you’ll never have to do it again.”

I recommend it to anyone who is streamlining their lives or making space for something new. The process helped me live more intentionally and say goodbye to things that no longer served me.

Radical Candor: Be a Kick-Ass Boss Without Losing Your Humanity by Kim Scott

“The idea is simple: You don't have to choose between being a pushover and a jerk. Using Radical Candor―avoiding the perils of Obnoxious Aggression, Manipulative Insincerity, and Ruinous Empathy―you can be kind and clear at the same time.”

Yes, it’s a business book and I use the Radical Candor framework in deciding what needs to be said and how best to say it, in all aspects of my life.

I offer a professional development yoga series based on the Radical Candor content. Think of it as a book club with yoga instead of wine. Please contact me if you’re interested in joining us!

Thanks for the Feedback: The Science and Art of Receiving Feedback Well by Douglas Stone and Sheila Heen

“In Thanks for the Feedback, (the authors) explain why receiving feedback is so crucial yet so challenging, offering a simple framework and powerful tools to help us take on life’s blizzard of offhand comments, annual evaluations, and unsolicited input with curiosity and grace.”

This is the one book I wish I read earlier in my career. It’s made it easier for me to show my appreciation for others and help co-create expectations within my relationships. It also helped me hear how I can do better and develop my growth mindset.

The Inside-Out Revolution by Michael Neill

“Author Michael Neill shares an extraordinary new understanding of how life works that turns traditional psychology on its head. This revolutionary approach is built around three simple principles that explain where our feelings come from and how our experience of life can transform for the better in a matter of moments.”

A short book that helped me see happiness, abundance, empowerment and choice in my daily living. I am grateful that I read this book before I started my life coach training.

Harmony by Whitney Hanson

“In this exquisite poetry collection, Whitney Hanson, chronicles the loss of a loved one, tracing the progression of grief and healing through the lens of music.”

I love listening to Whitney read her poems on love and loss. Harmony is a collection inspired by losing her best friend when she was only 16. Here’s one I keep on my phone:

i know

more than anyone

that nothing i can say

will mend the hole in your heart

so first

forgive me for trying
